re: Wrong medical report from Kiribati regarding patients coming to Fiji

It is disturbing to know that there have been cases in which medical reports from Kiribati regarding patients coming to Fiji have been "INCORRECT". To give an example: there was a Kiribati patient who came to Fiji few months ago with a medical report saying that she has a brain tumor. She was very thin. After the X-ray it was discovered that she has a serious TB infection. This is embarrasing to the credibility of the medical profession in Kiribati. My question is: "Who is incharge of writing a medical report for Kiribati patients?" This clearly indicates that a honest and true medical report had not been done in Kiribati for this specific case. I was told that this was not the first case. My concern is that once a wrong diagnose has been made for a patient, that patient will end up taking a wrong "medicine" as well and might eventually die. Please guys ... do your duty well for the sake of our PEOPLE. God bless Kiribati!!!!  The People of Kiribati have the "rights" for professional health care and services. Their lives depend on YOU!!!

Hi,

I dont think this is disturbing but it is certainly disappointing. If this is the ongoing issue to the patient being sent, well I agree with that our doctors or whoever made these should be more thorough with their process.

If I look more in depth on this issue, I will concern about other side such as the fund being misused. I believe that from their carelessness there will be an impact on many things to the people individualy, the families of the patient and the finance. With no doubt these will affect Kiribati as a whole.

So therefore, I am agreeing with you and should extend our concern on this issue to those who play this role and should ask the Medical department to take good care of this in future.

Mauri Chevalier i just come across your forum here..and your concerned about wrong diagnose on a patients should be overlooked..I don't know how they do it over there..but here in the US a doctor is the one that should do a diagnose and procedure on a patient and then a medical transcriptionist should be the one doing all the papers for that specific patient..do doctors use medical terminology when they diagnose.. because sometimes a medical transcriptionist can interpret or translate the diagnose wrong..so he or she should be the blame...hope it wont happen in the future..ko rarabwa n am concern ibukiia kain abara aika tangiraki..

let me guess.....mmmmm!!!???.. are we suspecting that some of our doctors are not quite experience to work in some areas?LOL....there should be procedures to write medical reports like that....as usual (to follow the chain command in process ...whose next and next?! to verify it)...please Medical doctors uphold your intergrity and professionism in your duties....so far as i understand.....only doctors, priests, and lawyers are well fit within the "word" professional so kept it up....otherwise...the other professional...(Lawyer) could take you to court..

What would  i say is that Doctors nowadays are kabwarabwae Doctors..They have the  qualifications and all

ma tao e bon korakora naba te taningaroti..Tao bon angina riki ae a taningaroti...ke tao aikoa kukurei naba ni boia ke tao tera...N aron te report aekan anne kanga a bon kabwarabae kee? ke kanga? tera riki ae tina ara jugde iaona ma tao bon tii anne.

Ngkana e bon tutuoaki ao man oneneaki machines akanne ao ngkanne let me say the blame fall onto our doctors....if not then the machines must be blamed and so the installation of new machines is needed.....but then how much...............since the money is given out to 67 upwards year old people!!!!
