i have some information on the history of the seventh day adventist church which i believe, addresses your discussion topic:
It was started by William Miller in upstate new york, who, in 1833, first shared publicly his belief in the coming Second Advent of Jesus Christ in roughly the year 1843. Miller predicted on the basis of Daniel 8:14-16 and the "day-year principle" that Jesus Christ would return to Earth on October 22, 1844. When this did not happen, most of his followers disbanded and returned to their original churches.
Some Millerites (followers of Miller) came to believe that Miller's calculations were correct, but that his interpretation of Daniel 8:14 was flawed as he assumed it was the 'earth that was to be cleansed' or Christ would come to cleanse the world. These "Adventists" arrived at the conviction that Daniel 8:14 foretold Christ's entrance into the "Most Holy Place" of the heavenly sanctuary rather than his second coming.
The denomination grew out of the Millerite movement in the United States during the middle part of the 19th century and was formally established in 1863. Among its most prominent figures were Joseph Bates, James White, and Ellen G. WHite. Ellen White came to occupy a particularly central role; her many visions and spiritual leadership convinced her fellow Adventists that she possessed the gift of prophecy. Her extensive writings are still held in high regard by the church today.
Unfortunately, Walter T. Rea who was a devoted follower left and wrote a book entitled, THE WHITE LIE. In his book, he talks about the lies that Ellen G. White told about her visions (revelations) and prophecies and indicated that she had commited plagiarism. This can be found at www.ellenwhiteexposed.com.
Basically, This church broke away from the Christian church (Protestant) and they are not considered christians, just like the mormons
However, I believe it is very wrong, to lower others just because you dont agree with their belief. If you find something unpleasant or wrong about a religion, explain and point out the areas (with facts) that support your views. I am not a seventh day adventist but I disagree with hurting other people's feelings and egos.
